There is a small soap factory right next door to our Shea Butter Cooperative. As we were able to see for ourselves, the hygiene standards were at European level.

After my wife had already tried the special quality of Black Soap in the better hotels, it was clear to us that this soap would go particularly well with fair shea.

The black color of Baking Soap comes from the fact that the ash of banana tree leaves is used for saponification during production, as has been the case for hundreds of years. This makes the soap absolutely natural. The best oils used for Black Soap make it particularly nourishing. But then we were a little surprised that in addition to 70% of the best coconut oil and 25% shea butter, it also contains 5% palm oil. The soap maker couldn't understand our typical European objection to the evil palm oil. "Without the palm oil, the black soap becomes much too hard. And the oil grows around the corner. No jungle was felled for this"

The only problem was the assembly. After we noticed during the tour of the production that the soap was shaped very individually, we talked about it for a long time. We actually had to agree that 10g is more or less pretty petty and that no one in Africa gets upset about it. Nevertheless, we thought we had made it sufficiently clear that unfortunately things work differently in Europe.

We were surprised when, after 3 months, we received bars of soap weighing 60g - 160g.

We sorted the Soaps then in 3 Cathegories: 85g-100g. 100g-125g and more then 125 g
